Sand between the toes, salt in the hair

Tara grew up spending every December at her grandmother's house in Mapusa; Rohan learnt to swim on a Goa holiday when he was nine. So when we decided to get married, there was only one place to do it. Three slow days, one sunset, and all of you.

good questions

Things you might wonder

Is the ceremony really barefoot?

Yes. There will be a basket for your shoes at the edge of the sand and a foot-rinse station on the way back to dinner.

Can we swim at Ashwem?

The sea is calm in January and lifeguards are on duty during the day. Please swim between the flags and not after dark.

Are children welcome?

Absolutely. There is a sandcastle corner during the haldi and a babysitter on call at the resort for the wedding evening.

What will we eat?

Goan seafood, of course, alongside a full vegetarian menu at every meal. Tell us about allergies or Jain food in your RSVP.

Do I need cash?

Most shacks and shops take UPI, but keep some cash for scooters and the odd stall. The nearest ATMs are in Mandrem.

What if it rains?

January is reliably dry. If the weather surprises us, everything moves to the covered deck by the pool.
